Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed corner leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
